Preventive dentistry deals with treatment of dental caries. The treatment involves removal of bacteria and ill hard tissues of a tooth and filling with material imitating one's own tooth. The materials used at present (fillings) present high durability and can replenish small or medium defects. In case of large defects the best results are achieved due to application of prosthetic methods: onlays and crowns.
